Abstract/Summary

This study was conducted to enhance the application of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). Thus, this study contains design and computations that made this thesis happen. This thesis contains a paper design which discusses the tracking and identification system for the De La Salle University-Canlubang. Furthermore, a two room RFID prototype was done to simulate the design planned.

The two-room RFID prototype system made use of Radiometrix transmitters and receivers with 914.5 MHz frequency range. To generate the identifications codes PICI6F628A microcontrollers were employed. Furthermore, the timing of the transmission and reception were programmed by adjusting the time delay of each module. In addition, to implement half-duplex operation enable pins were used so as to allow the reception to happen first before the actual transmission, this solved the problem of jumbled signals.

The design of the antenna depends largely on the desired range for each device. For the Modules the group used a 1/4 whip PCB track antenna due to its size and packaging. For the Transponders and Host Transponder a half-dipole antennas is used.

The Electronic Map was implemented using Visual Basic Programming Language through VB6 software, it functions as a compiler of all programs associated with the output GUI of the system.

The waveforms obtained from each transmission were compared to the valid data of the system, consequently displaying the correct location of the module in the Electronic Map.
