Abstract/Summary
Public relations is a management tool concerning cultivating the relationships of an organization and its audiences in which its achievements and downfall are relied upon (Waters, 2007). In this regard, it is essential that organizations have a good public relations program that would enable them to promulgate its objectives. For Tahanan Sta. Luisa, a non-profit organization, materials must be identified to help them generate greater public awareness and to consequently attract more donors to support its cause.
Information-Processing Theory is one of the theories of persuasion in which it is message-based and it induces creating positive responses from the information given (Devine & Hirt, 1989). The proponents deemed that the misconceptions perceived in the organization as well as the lack of incentives to donate and support the cause of the organization necessitates the application of the theory to assess the existing methods used by Tahanan Sta. Luisa to raise awareness about their organization.
The proponents conducted a communication audit immersion which enabled them to come up with two materials: the teaser brochure and website. The teaser brochure serves as a preliminary introduction about the organization and entices the audience to visit the website. The website offers the organization an opportunity to interactively reach a wider audience without enormous financial burdens.
Finally, the materials were assessed. The criteria used were the following: (1) Content, (2) Presentation of Information, and (3) Visual Appeal. For the website, an additional criterion: (4) Interface and Navigation was used. Results of the evaluation indicate satisfaction from the organization members and target audience as it was able to meet the criteria, it was also able to elicit a positive response from the respondents.
