Abstract/Summary

The aim of the study was to construct a test measuring the stress tolerance of Filipina entertainers in Japan. The Panukat ng Kakayahang Magbata ng Tensiyon (PKMT) is a self-report instrument using situations as format. It was developed through the utilization of pagtatanung-tanong , an indigenous method. This was employed by interviewing entertainers and researchers of the same field. The initial item pool was reviewed by experts and bilingual professors. A preliminary tryout using 20 Filipina entertainers and researchers of the same field. The initial item pool was reviewed by experts and bilingual professors. The main tryout was composed of 101 Filipina entertainers from various promotion centers and recruitment agencies who fall between the ages of 18 and 35. Item analysis was also used to establish the construct validity of the test. Results of the data analysis procedures produced ten basic factors, namely: I - Tensiyong Nagmumula sa Trabaho, II - Tensiyong Nagmumula sa Pananalapi, III - Tensiyong Nagmumula sa Pag-aalala at sa Pakikisama sa Ka-trabaho, IV - Tensiyong Nagmumula sa Paninindigan, V- Tensiyong Nagmumula sa Damdamin, VI - Tensiyong Nagmumula sa Pagkakaiba sa Kultura, VII - Tensiyong Nagmumula sa Pakikisama sa Kostumer, VIII - Tensiyong Nagmumula sa Insekuridad, IX - Tensiyong Nagmumula sa Pagtitimpi, X - Tensiyong Nagmumula sa pagiging Sensitibo at sa Responsibilidad. Through the coefficient alpha,

a reliability coefficient of .79096 was obtained. A norm table for the whole test was done using percentile ranks. The final form is composed of 53 items.
