Abstract/Summary

In the industry today, many types of controllers exist. These controllers have their own specific functions, advantages as well as disadvantages. One of these is the programmable logic controller or commonly known as the PLC. PLC is widely accepted for its user-friendly operation, reliability and flexibility. Hence, knowledge about its functions and uses tends to give an advantage to those who are familiar with its operations. Studying these PLCs through laboratory experiments will give the user a view of what to expect in industry control systems. Inclusion of a training program regarding PLCs in the engineering curriculum will be of great help to students. For this reason, the group is going to develop a PLC training manual to enhance knowledge on these controllers and to guide users in the proper handling of PLCs.
