Abstract/Summary
Speed is an important factor when doing a maintenance check-up. In conveying belts, too high a speed would be chaotic, too low a speed may not be pleasant either. Plastic making, yarn twisting or even knitting machines have specific required speeds. Tachometers are just what is needed for maintenance check-up especially in cases where speed inconsistencies are considered as risk factors. This research would present a modified optical tachometer that would measure the rotational speed of rotating shafts without the actual physical contact between the sample shaft and the tachometer. This modified optical tachometer would hopefully become an addition to the variety of tachometers available.
