Abstract/Summary

ARSE-VIZMAR INDUSTRIES CORPORATION is a contractual company engaged in the design, estimate, fabrication, installation, maintenance and servicing of airconditioning and ventilation systems. The study was focused on the Operations Department specifically from the Receipt of Orders from Customers up to the Delivery and Installation of Ducts and Equipment. The study made a review of the present system involved in the area of concern. Upon review, the present performance of the company in terms of output in the Duct Fabrication is 65 Ducts per day and in the Installation Section are 145 installed ducts per day. With the company's present performance in undergoing its operational activities, the company experiences delays in project completion time where 47.37% of the total projects undergone experiences delay at an average of 21 days. Delays in project completion require the company to deduct 0.1% of the contract price per day of delay as part of the terms of contracts signed by the company and the customer. In this situation, a thorough study of the causes contributing to the problem were given emphasis to have a clear understanding of what the company should solve in order to eliminate delays. The main causes derived from the Pareto Analysis shows that Long processing times leading to low production output, rework, and slow installation process leading to low installation output are the causes that are to be given proper actions by sighting alternative solutions to counteract the causes. The study conducted a simulation study in duct fabrication and installation section to determine the additional manpower and machines to increase output per day. From the simulation, the alternative solutions were evaluated to determine the appropriate solutions to be used. After evaluation, the study proposed additional manpower and machines in the duct fabrication section and additional cutting machines in the installation section to increase output. The improvement of working conditions and material handling system were proposed for counteracting rework occurrences. These solutions to prove feasibility for company implemented were evaluated using Cost-Benefit Analysis. The Cost Benefit Analysis revealed that all solutions were feasible to be implemented and put into the present system. A schedule of activities involved upon implementation of the system with the use of the Gantt Chart.
