Abstract/Summary

To get a picture of the midlife experience in the Philippine setting, a sample of 100 middle-aged Filipino males and 100 Filipino females, were given the Midlife Inventory in order to measure their levels of stress in terms of life experiences and daily hassles, resilience and wellbeing. Data was first analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. T-test was also conducted to determine gender differences among the sample in terms of each the variables. Lastly, hierarchical regression analysis was conducted to determine whether gender moderates the relationship of stress and resilience to wellbeing. Results showed that the sample as a whole had moderate levels of stress, resilience and well-being daily hassles and well-being, as well as resilience and well-being were correlated gender differences were found in terms of daily hassles and well-being, and gender moderates the relationship between stress and resilience to well-being.
