Abstract/Summary

Due to the increasing price and the diminishing resource of fossil fuels, experts are now looking for ways in order to acquire energy from renewable sources. These renewable sources include wind power, hydro (water) power, and solar (sun) power. In the Philippines, the solar power has been used primarily for the electricity of houses in remote areas because these are places where power lines are tedious to install. It is only very recent that solar power has been used for an automobile application.

This thesis is a computer-aided instruction (CAI) in solar-powered systems with applications on automobiles. Lectures about solar power are presented in an interactive approach using softwares such as Adobe Flash, Swish Max, Swift 3D, and Adobe Dreamweaver for the animations, graphics, and voice-overs. Moodle, a course management system, was also used to set an educational mood for the users. The CAI was then uploaded in the website through a web host for an easy access of the users.
