Abstract/Summary
This study is aimed at coming up with a laboratory treatment set-up providing a means of treating municipal sludge using the process of anaerobic digestion. The parameters that were varied were the volume of sludge, the addition of pebbles for agitation and the sloping bottom of the container. The volumes considered here are 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 liters. The pH, bacterial count and temperature were the parameters considered in the study. It was found out that 1.5 liter volume of sludge in an inclined bottom container procedures a pH level conducive for a maximum activity of methane producing bacteria.
