Abstract/Summary

Mother Earth Foundation (MEF) is a non-stock, non-profit environmental organization that aims to raise Filipino people's awareness on environmental issues by conducting solid waste management and environmental protection conferences and workshops. The communication audit revealed that MEF does not supply relevant information to their partner youth organizations (PYOs), because it was unable to acquire the PYOs needs and preferences.

Longest and Rohrer's communication model (2005) suggests that in order to effectively communicate with external stakeholders, an organization need to acquire stakeholder needs and preferences then supply information that caters to the acquired needs and preferences. To address this organizational communication problem, the proponents created an intranet that aims to serve as a platform wherein MEF can acquire and supply relevant information to their PYOs. Features were developed by incorporating Longest and Rohrer's (2005) concepts in acquiring information. Based from the organizational member's feedback, the intranet will aid the organization in communicating with their internal members and their PYOs. Furthermore, the users expressed that having an intranet can help them improve the planning and implementation of their communicative efforts to its PYOs.
