Abstract/Summary
A limnological study of Taal Lake, Batangas was done from June to August of 1992. The water samples collected and analyzed were from different points of the lake and the Volcano Island. The physico-chemical aspects of the water were analyzed. The determination of microalgal biomass content through indirect measurement of chlorophyll-a content and primary productivity were also done. The time-related results showed that water temperature readings ranged from 29.2 centigrade to 34.7 centigrade, total solid concentrations ranged from 0.70 E-3 mg/1 to 1.73 E- 3 mg/1 to 1.40 mg/1, conductivity readings ranged from 186.67 umhos/cm to 248.78 umhos/cm, dissolved oxygen concentrations ranged from 0.72 mg/1 to 7.87 mg/1, total hardness concentrations ranged from 126 mg/1 CaC03 to 979 mg/1 CaC03, total alkalinity concentrations ranged from 161.50 mg/1 CaC03 to 186.83 mg/1 CaC03, nitrate concentrations ranged from 0.17 mg/1 to 1.50 mg/1, orthophosphate concentrations ranged from 1.60 mg/1 to 10.20 mg/1, microalgal biomass ranged from 0.41 ug/1 to 1.88 ug/1 and the net primary productivity ranged from -3.67 mg/1 to 2.61 mg/1.
