Abstract/Summary

SAE-MIS is a three-year Management Information System Plan developed for SAE Products Marketing Corporation. The plan is based on IBM's Business Systems Planning (BSP) which supports top-down planning with bottom-up implementation. It will aid SAE in establishing information systems that will assist the attainment of the organization's short-and long-range information demands and requirements. The BSP Methodology helped define the Information Architecture of the company. The Information Architecture identifies all data classes and describes the ideal operations of SAE which should be carried out in order to achieve the organization's mission, goals and objectives. The study presents SAE's organizational strategies, current systems or company operations and various problems that the company encounters with its systems. Moreover, development of an Integrated MIS (IMIS) is recommended. The IMIS will help management achieve effective decision-making. Development of the whole IMIS, acquisition of HW/SW, IT maintenance and conversion from the old system to the new system were also identified.
