Abstract/Summary
Flooding is one of the issues Malate has been facing over the years as it affects the functionalities and services of educational institutions and condominiums. As a way to compensate the problem, a study on the flood management system of Malate is performed using the method system dynamics analysis.
This study aims to assess the dynamics of the flood management system of Malate using software, STELLA, VENSIM and Storm Water Management Model (SWMM). A stock-flow diagram was formulated using the software STELLA to simulate the amount of flood results of an existing flood management system and a flood management system with interventions of the junctions considered in the drainage system of Malate. Thus, the sustainability of the flood management system was determined by getting the percentage decrease of the amount of flood per year.
Through the findings on the results, solutions were established by increasing the pipe diameter from 610mm to 1070mm and constructing a pump as a sift remover in pipes near Taft Avenue.
