Abstract/Summary

Pana-panahon is a ten (10) minute short film about three Filipina women from different generations embarking on important decisions affecting their relationships with the men in their lives. The projects genesis come from the proponents desire to tackle the roles of Filipina women in society over the years, and at the same time analyze their growth towards independence.

The film also aims to compare and contrast the experiences of the women and how they adapt to the culture of the eras they belong to. Moreover, it aims to showcase the experiences of a woman who stays in a marriage despite a cheating husband, because of lifes circumstances and the future of her child and in contrast, it also showcases the experiences of a woman who chooses to end her marriage, in the presence of stable employment, as a result of her childhood experiences.

The film seeks to empower women in contemporary times, and showcase the growth and change of common Filipina as they go through marriage and employment in a male-dominated society. Furthermore, it aspires to address topic involving women in marriage and employment in a patriarchal society. This family-oriented drama reflects on three generations of women dealing with the men in their lives and how evident the changes are overtime. It is a deep and meaningful take on beauty and struggle in growth and change, and it is a visually rich, silent film.
