Abstract/Summary

Fashion Revolution Philippines (FRP) is a non-profit organization which advocates for sustainable fashion and aims to connect people to create change in the way clothes are produced, sourced, and consumed to ensure that it is made in a sustainable and ethical way.

The communication audit revealed that despite FRP's current strategies to manage volunteer certainty, volunteers still have task, social, and organization uncertainties, and had low interaction with their co-volunteers. This made the members uncertain about FRP and their roles, wherein they became less engaged in the organization. With this, the organizational commitment problem of FRP lies in tis strategies in managing uncertainty which is found ineffective by tis volunteers.

The thesis aims to improve the strategies of Fashion Revolution Philippines (FRP) in managing uncertainty among volunteers using a communication package. Drawing insights from uncertainty management theory (UMT), the necessary information that volunteers need should be supplied through various communication strategies such as visual and written materials, and peer communication.

To address the communication problem, a communication package was created which includes a volunteer manual, 3-minute video, Facebook group communication strategy (FGCS), and a volunteer alignment meeting with a revised powerpoint presentation. The results showed that the interventions increased their knowledge of FRP and helped volunteers manage their uncertainty. It also fostered social interaction among them, and improved their volunteer satisfaction and identification.
