Abstract/Summary

Pacific Heights Hotel is a medium-scale hotel that has 25 rooms, 26 personnel, excluding the General Manager and the Assistant Manager, and offers services such as Rent-A-Car, Laundry and Food Service. The hotel was established last August 1994 and is located in Cotabato City. At present, all of the hotel's systems are operating on manual basis, which results to slow processing of data, inaccurate information that leads to problems such as double-booking/overbooking, inaccurate computations of bills and wrong decision-making on the part of the Manager. In line with this, the project team developed a 3-year Information System Plan that will aid in the operations of each of the functional areas of the hotel. The plan will cover the entire hotel which is divided into two areas: the Front Office area and the Back Office area. After a thorough analysis of the organization, the group developed an information system that will handle all the processes of the hotel which includes Reservation, Registration, Rental Service, Food Service, Laundry Service, Check-Out, Purchasing, Inventory, Accounting and Personnel. The target users of this information system are the Receptionists. Accounting Secretary and the General Manager. Receptionists will handle the Front Office Information System and the Accounting Secretary and General Manager for the Back Office Information System. The system will comprise 3 computers and will be developed using Visual Foxpro 3.0.
