Abstract/Summary
Solid waste management focuses on the ever-increasing population and developing industrial technologies. Only within recent years that it has received the attention it deserves. This thesis begins with a description of the solid waste management situation as it currently exists in Metro Manila for the generation, collection, transfer, and disposal of solid wastes. It includes government statistics of wastes generated by individual cities and municipalities situated within the confines of Metropolitan Manila. The statistics only show wastes in weight measurement coming from various categorical sources. The bulk of this thesis cites one waste management method, that is incineration, which from this general method, the fluidized bed combustion technology is studied. The study does not only include research on the design principles for a fluidized bed incinerator, but also actual fabrication of a working unit to put into use the basis from literature citations and other sources.
