Abstract/Summary

The reality of embalming is a 13-minute investigative documentary that aims to provide a general understanding of the process of embalming. The documentary features the demonstration of the embalming treatment and procedure done in two funeral homes in the Philippines namely, Funeral A and Funeral B. When a funeral home receives a case, a series of steps must be followed before the embalming process is performed on the cadaver by the embalmer. The reality of embalming looks into both funeral homes. More specifically, if both establishments follow the standard embalming procedure as part of the funeral services they offer. The proper embalming process, as discussed by experts on modern embalming from two mortuary schools will discuss the methods and techniques. The embalmers will also talk about the importance of following the standard, especially when dealing with a human body.
