Abstract/Summary

Computers have evolved greatly since its creation. Today, computers have become more than just a counting machine, it has become a necessity. Computers have made writing, counting, and communication easier. Apart from that, computers provide new models of mind and a new medium on which to project our ideas and fantasies (qtd. in Holeton 5) This new medium is the Internet, a computer tool that connect millions of people and along with it, creates a shift in the way people think and form their identities (qtd. in Holeton 5)

Various studies have analyzed the Internet's power to construct identities in the production of culture (qtd. in Holeton 6) A study by Sherry Turkle identifies people's tendency to produce multiple shelves (qtd. in Holeton 5-6) in cyberspace (Kolko et al. 118), the term used to refer to the virtual and online world. This paper tackles researches that have been made about identity-creation on the Internet in an effort to justify the comprehensiveness of the group's feature video.
