Abstract/Summary

Knowledge and practice in the functional areas of business have come of age. And as a consequence to this, managers constantly demand better and more timely information. A systems approach for better management requires that this demand be met by information systems. In view of the present economic conditions being experienced, the trend will be largely bent towards the computerization of operations based on the utilization of the country's natural resources. Hence, OMFR, Inc., a dollar-earning export firm dealing in deep sea fishing would be quite interesting to study. The proposed system would aim at raising the level of management from piecemeal spotty information, guess-work and isolated problem-solving to that of systematic information-based decisions. Thus, it would serve as a tool for aiding managers in problem-solving and decision-making purposes.
