Abstract/Summary

The group is proposing a PC-Based Fingerprint Identification System. The proposed system will be designed to validate a user of the said system. The system is triggered when the user inputs a Personal Identification Number (PIN) designated for a certain fingerprint pattern stored in the database. After entering a correct PIN, a set of options will be presented to the user. The user can then load the corresponding fingerprint pattern from the database. The next step would be to acquire the user's fresh fingerprint pattern from the database. The next step would be to acquire the user's fresh fingerprint pattern using the flatbed scanner. After the scanner has done its job of getting the fresh fingerprint pattern, it will then be processed and compared with fingerprint pattern previously stored in its database. Image processing techniques will be utilized to further enhance the images acquired by the optical scanner. Programs were written in C-type high-level language. The system is required to validate or invalidate any user. A valid user is one whose fingerprints are stored in the computer. A user whose fingerprints are not stored in the computer will be deemed invalid after the computer fails to make a match. However, a valid user will be proclaimed valid after the computer makes a match.
