Abstract/Summary
The Elevated Water Tank Design Support System (EWTDSS) is a highly specialized software package devoted to designing custom-made elevated water tanks. It offers computational abilities extending the flexibility of the user in trying out variations in the materials used. The accelerated speed of computers in dealing with monumental computations, as compared with the manual system, significantly reduces the gestation period of designing a complete tank structure. Most people are already aware of the potentials of computers in many areas. The EWTDSS capitalizes on the potential of computers in the engineering field. EWTDSS was particularly developed for the explicit use of the engineer of MEGA Construction Enterprises. Since standard theories and formulas were used, other civil/structural engineers involved in designing steel water tanks may be able to utilized the software. However, the flow of the computations were patterned after Engineer Macatimpag's style, which he derived from two years of experience, and thus, may not necessarily be exactly the same as the method of other engineers.
