Abstract/Summary

The SOFTWARE ENGINEERING ENVIRONMENT DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM-DATA FLOW DIAGRAM is a Windows application that enables the user to draw Data Flow Diagram. There are numerous software applications that design CASE tools but none are Windows based. The Windows user interface, complete with mouse usage and icon manipulation, is the trend nowadays. Creating the SEEDS-DFD will make CASE tool development, the DFD in particular up to date. Besides these features, the application is also equipped with a syntax and consistency checker which monitors the correctness of the DFD. Concepts learned regarding file handling, memory management, stack and list manipulation is incorporated with the modules of a typical Windows application to develop the software. The application software that is used is Borland C++ version 3.0 or 3.1, since different functions essential in Windows programming are present in these programming languages. Obstacles were encountered along the way but these were temporary. In due time these problems were hurdled.
