Abstract/Summary

Charming Hair in Computer (CHIC) is a software that enables the user to match a variety of hairstyles to a given face based on image processing concepts. Since the software allows the acquiring of real life photographs, various photographic imaging techniques is provided for the manipulation of the graphical representation of the image files (e.g. hairstyles, face) CHIC can identify the hairline boundary of a person and enables the removal of the hair without affecting the original image. The system allows the reconstruction of the face just in case some of the image data are lost. Moreover, the system provides a flexible way of allowing the user to store any kinds of hairstyles into the system library. The system library contains the image files of different kinds of hairstyle and allows the user to choose his or her desirable hairstyle, to compare one hairstyle with the other and visualize if the hairstyle is suitable to his face or not. Some desirable changes are made possible by the system if the user wishes to edit the hairstyles. Furthermore, CHIC keeps track of the latest trends of hairstyle fashions since the system allows the user to update it from time to time. The system also provides WYSIWYG printing and print preview for images.
