Abstract/Summary
The present study investigates the possible relationship between birth order and child nutritional status. Anthropometic measures were taken to help assess the current nutritional situation prevalent among preschoolers. Ninety-one preschoolers from Rosario Reyes Playschool was employed as subjects for the study. Twenty-two of them were first-borns, twenty-nine were middle-borns and forty were last-borns. They were brought to the nearby health center where they were measured for height and weight. The weight-for-age measurement was obtained and plotted against the Water flow Classification Scheme. Results showed that from the 91 subjects that were employed a total number of 23 are suffering from over nourishment 5 are suffering from mild malnourishment and the remaining 63 are nutritionally healthy. T-test of significant difference was used and results showed that 29 pairs of means were found to have no significant differences while 7 pairs were found to have significant differences.
