Abstract/Summary
This study investigates whether or not bancassurance operations has positive effects on the profitability and efficiency of universal banks in the Philippines. Data used in this study were actual data gathered from both primary and secondary sources of the years 2007-2015. Regression analysis will be the method used in determining the significance of the variables. The results of the study reveal that bancassurance has overall positive significant effect on profitability while for efficiency, the overall impact is insignificant. Given the findings, apart from the increasing profits of banks, insignificant efficiency suggests that there will be no additional costs in resources in adopting bancassurance operations. Lastly, the diversification strategy in bancassurance shows an impact on the performance of the banks. Bancassurance is therefore beneficial to banks, which will lead to an increase in the value of the banks.
