Abstract/Summary
With the increase of the population of Korean students here in the Philippines, we are given a situation wherein there will be more chances of interaction with these foreign students. Given a new environment, Koreans will have to deal with the demands of academic and social adjustment that could lead to acculturative stress experiences. The researchers explored on the different factors of acculturative stress that could affect Koreans in terms of their social and academic adjustment here in the Philippines. The researchers used both quantitative and qualitative design, specifically the sequential explanatory research design, to analyze the different factors that contribute to acculturative stress experiences of Korean students. Moreover, the study inquired on the role of acculturative stress experiences in relation to adjustment in the academic and social domain. The study showed a negative relationship between acculturative stress and both social and academic adjustment. In addition, the study also showed the significant relationship between academic and social adjustment. The study presents data that could help us in understanding these Korean students in reducing acculturative stress experiences with regards to their successful adjustment in the academic and social domain.
