Abstract/Summary

Alopecia Philippines is a non-profit organization that seeks to provide information about alopecia and educate the public about the condition. The organization conducts workshops to provide information and emotional support to people with the condition and uses their Facebook page to promote awareness to the public. However, the communication audit showed that there is a lack of awareness from the organization's' target audience despite their communication efforts. The researchers conducted interviews and surveys with the officers and target audience as well as content analysis of their Facebook page. It was found that the organization is unable to address their goals. Alopecia Philippines found this communication problem concerning because being the only support group for men and women with alopecia in the Philippines, it is their mission to provide support for people with the condition. The researchers together with the officers have decided that organizing an event is the feasible solution to address this communication problem. Along with the event, the researchers have also created an organizational video, a brochure, print posters and online posters to be posted on the Facebook page specifically created for the event. The event was organized by the researchers with the participation of Alopecia Philippines' offers as the organizing committee the event was held on September 26, 2015 at 12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub in Century Mall.
