Abstract/Summary
The thesis, entitled PC-BASED VIDEO FRAME GRABBER aims to capture one frame of a video image, and then to store it in a memory chip. The PC-Base Video Frame Grabber system is a PC compatible board. It is capable of capturing one frame of video image, and then storing the captured video image into a memory chip for later use. The video image may be supplied either from a video camera, a VCR or any other NTSC video source and allows the captured image to be displayed on a video monitor through the video chip. The video chip is a video analog to digital converter and is capable of converting the received video image signals from the video source, which is an analog signal, to its equivalent digital image signal. The digitized image signal to be captured will then be stored in a memory chip. The video frame grabber board is accessed by a software that runs the whole system. The software will be responsible for the capture and display purposes, and also the control of the system, such as the detection of the start and end of the picture frame in video image. The bitmap is the image format used for the display of the captured image.
