Abstract/Summary
This project is all about an automation of a system that makes use of the java programming language to interconnect all the platforms that are used. The project is composed of 2 major platforms: the Mobile Phone platform and the Server Side platform. This system reads signal parameters from the Field Test Display (FTD) program, sends this information as an image file to the server side, extracts the information into editable texts and stores them to the remote database. The two platforms are connected and they pass information to each other with the use of the GPRS (General Packet Radio Service). The mobile phone platform is governed by the J2ME program installed within the mobile phone where it takes a screenshot of the FTD and sends the image file through GPRS to the server side. The server side, which is governed by the J2EE program, then extracts the parameters from this image file with the use of the Optical Character Recognition program and save the information within the database.
