Abstract/Summary

Cannabis use is one of the growing topics around the world today due to various countries that are currently legalizing its use either for medicinal or recreational purposes. The study done focused on experiences of young adults regarding cannabis use specifically on three stages of its usage, before, during, and after cannabis use. A qualitative design was utilized for the study wherein six male respondents who have abstained from cannabis use in the last six months between the ages of 22 and 30 were interviewed about their experience. Several themes emerged from the interviews such as the environment and preconceived Perceptions of the users under history before Cannabis use, curiosity, peer pressure, escape, social advantage, and high feeling under motivations in using, physical and mental effects, behavior/attitude, social connections, and gateway under efftecs during Cannabis usage, Differences in the physical and mental health under post-cannabis use, deteriorating mental health, Relationships, academic and work career, legality Issues, and lifestyle changes under motivations in quitting, and motivations to continue after abstinence. The researchers found that even though all of the participants are in a period of abstinence, some still plan to use cannabis again either after their rehabilitation program or if it becomes legal in the Philippines.
