Abstract/Summary
The thesis aims to showcase the two distinguishable cultures, Chinese and Filipino, side by side and highlights their diversity with a positive approach on cultural differences through a bilingual (Chinese and English) children's book and to be a medium to encourage young readers to embrace multiculturalism and help them become aware of the sameness of their own culture with others.
The story text of the book is presented in the story text in both Chinese, with pinyin equivalent, and English and with cartoonish, naive illustrations used in the book to attract the attention of the proposed audience--primarily Filipino, Chinese, and Filipino-Chinese children ages 5-8 years old.
