Abstract/Summary
Fecal samples were collected from 40 free roaming female chickens during the months of May-June 2008 in Los Baños, Laguna for the detection of intestinal parasites. The samples were processed using formol-ether concentration technique for the detection of intestinal helminths and modified Zeihl-Neelsen technique for the detection of Cryptosporidium sp. oocysts. Intestinal parasites were noted in 23 (57.5%) fecal samples. The parasites identified were nematodes: Ascaridia sp. (37.5%), Heterakis sp. (15.0%), Syngamus sp. (5.0%) and protozoan Cryptosporidium sp. (15.0%).
