Abstract/Summary
This documentary film features levels of poverty in Metro Manila through three selected urban poor families who were chosen based on a combination of measures of poverty. It examined how these families with low social and economic status managed to survive and meet their basic needs.
The study utilized qualitative research methods particularly non-participant observation, document review, and key informant interview. An interview guide was developed utilizing composite indices of poverty which was derived from the review of related literature. Data obtained from the qualitative methods were used to feature the families in the documentary film.
To inspire others to do something about the situation of the urban poor, the documentary film provides a positive note on their plight and attempts to move up the social ladder.
