Abstract/Summary
This study examines the novel of Mario Puzo, The Godfather , in the light of the new historicist framework that the novel proposes an alternative order found in the Mafia, that subverts the dominant social formation of Democratic Administration present in America's social context of the 1950's to the 1960's. This study also examines the nature of the Italian underground Mafia as narrated in the novel, and how they perceive their world as compared to the more dominant foundation of America.
