Abstract/Summary
Kubeta is the story of an urban poor family and the changes they go through when the father buys a toilet. Seeing it as a novelty in the community, the neighbors intrude by using the toilet, and the parents later earn from it. The children see this corner as a venue for privacy: the daughter struggles with getting her first period, while the son comes to accept that he is a homosexual.
Most assumptions of the poor limit their problems as purely economic, not realizing that they too, experience problems of human nature like sexuality, growing up, and obsessions.
