Abstract/Summary
The fluctuations in chl a concentration of Awike stream in Brgy. Alaminos, Laguna was studied for 24 hours. Water samples were collected for 12:12 hour light: dark cycle on March 7-8, 1998 and on August 1-2, 1998. Results showed a higher mean chl a concentration on March 7-8, wherein higher radiation, total minutes of brightness, and day length were recorded by the Weather Bureau compared to the August sampling period. The chl a concentration on August 1-2 peaked during the daytime. In contrast, the chl a concentration during the March 7-8 sampling peaked at nighttime. This proves that chl a concentration fluctuates abnormally indicating an irregular trend in the stream's productivity.
