Abstract/Summary
Manufacturing firms experience and face different kinds of problems in their way of producing or manufacturing their products. In the production stage of the company, the proponents notice lots of deviation from what is expected to be the outcome. Many times, the proponents really cannot pinpoint the problem unless tools would be used and that a thorough analysis and a study would be undertaken. The proponents then made a study on the karaoke products being manufactured by Miyata Company (Janito Corporation) from January to December of year 1999. We focused on their production of Cinema I and Cinema II model karaoke in their Antipolo factory. The study was made in order to have a better way of improving the present manufacturing process of the company. Systems study made us pinpoint the deviation from what is expected in the production of Cinema I and Cinema II karaoke. With the use and aid of Industrial Engineering Techniques and Tools, the proponents provided the background for the Production Department of Miyata Karaoke regarding the manufacturing of Cinema I and Cinema II karaoke. Then, the proponents determined the main problem in their production process, which is underproduction of Cinema I and II karaoke. The causes of this underproduction are the reworks done on the defective karaoke and the lacking of raw materials to produce karaoke. After using IE tools, we formulated and came up with solutions (the adding of Styrofoam to the packaging of karaoke, and the use of simple scheduling in acquiring the raw materials) in order to solve the problem in underproduction by the department. The implementation of the solution will benefit the company a total amount of Php 8,257,340 in the next five years with a cost of Php 396,800 and benefit of Php 1,651,468 per year.
