Abstract/Summary

The Internet is a source of information that is characterized by accessibility and availability. Relevant information can be linked together and accessed online. Unlike the print medium, it offers interactivity and two-way communication. The Internet also has a wide reach and its database can be updated anytime. These characteristics are beneficial to a newspaper, which should provide current information. The Internet can make the newspaper a bigger resource because it has the capability of linking information. Interactivity also makes it more interesting and less static compared to a printed newspaper.

This web site served as a template for a news web site. It was meant to utilize features of the Internet that would better enable the newspaper to serve its function as a source of relevant information. It was designed to be a web site for a newspaper that was already existing in print. However, it was meant to be updated as current news becomes available, not only when the print edition was published. It contained seven sections, namely news, opinion, business, sports, living, entertainment, and travel.
