Abstract/Summary
In today's society, the youth is not really seen as a politicized group. They are regarded as young people who are more interested in school, gimmicks, and peers. Because of this perception, many feel that they would not be able to make the right vote during the senatorial elections.
More often than not, it is assumed that because the youth is not politicized, they will not make the right decisions when voting.
Senate 2001 is a website found at http://www.senate2001.iwarp.com. It is a site which aims to help youths into making better voting decisions on election day by educating them. The site contains interviews with and biodata of all the 36 candidates in the 2001 Senatorial elections.
The makers of this site also believe that if one knows how to vote, better decisions will follow, thus, the site also contains information on voting procedures, why one should vote, and how to choose candidates.
Knowing what the Senate is will also help first-time voter know which candidates are the right ones for the seat. They have to know whether one is qualified for such a position. Therefore, the site also includes information on the different functions of the Senate.
It is also believed that other people's opinions also have an influence over people's decisions. Senate 2001 provides a venue for political discussion in their forums for the first-time voters where they can express their opinions about a candidate or any other issue that arises regarding the Senate and the elections.
Features on the new senators and articles on issues that rose during the campaign period are also included in the website."
