Abstract/Summary
'Picketline' is a video documentary depicting the life and struggle of the strikers and their families in the picketline at Globe Steel Corporation. It express the living conditions and experiences they have encountered while struggling against the management of the company. This documentary shall first explain the reasons of the strike and show how their struggle affected their lives and their families. Finally, it shall express how the strike has affected their principle in life and outlook of society in general. It has Jimmy Hernandez, the union president as the main speaker piecing out the different topics touched on this documentary with the other union members supporting and elaborating his statements. To concretize the strikers' experiences in the picket-lien one of the direct victims of the harassment and detention, Jorge Villas is interviewed. Also, Ms. Cordy Quimpo of Mr. & Ms. Magazine, is interviewed to get an outsiders point of view on the harassment. Acknowledging that the strike is primarily a legal case, the lawyer handling the labor case is interviewed to give the audience the legal background, as well as the progress of the strike. After more than 2 years of going on strike, the strikers have erected their homes in the vicinity of the picketing. Their struggles not only include their conflict with the management but their day to day survival, as well.
