Abstract/Summary
The bactericidal activity of different brands of soap namely: Safeguard, Lifebuoy, Dr. Wong, Dr. Kauffman's, Angel's Love, Bioderm, Block and White, and Eskinol, were tested on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Candida albicans. Results showed the bactericidal activities of all test soap at a concentration of 15% after exposure of the test microorganisms for as short as 1 minute. Except for 1.875% of Eskinol which was not bactericidal on Escherichia coli after exposure of the test microorganism for 1 minute, all other soap tested at 15%, 7.5%, 3.5%, and 1.875% concentrations for 1, 2, 5, 10, and 15 minutes proved to be bactericidal on all the test microorganisms.
