Abstract/Summary
The flexural strength of concrete beams reinforced with used bars will be investigated. Three single span rectangular beams were tested to failure under two-point loading. Electrical strain gauges were placed at midspan which is the critical section of the beam in flexure. Five dial gauges were also placed at different sections of the beam. The actual maximum load attained will be compared to the theoretical computations. It was later discovered that the actual moment was greater than the theoretical value obtained. The yield strength of the recycled steel bars was found to be lower than its original grade.
