Abstract/Summary

A descriptive study of the occupational hazards, safety provisions, health services, and related occupational diseases was conducted in two companies, namely Woodland and Rattan Specialist, Incorporated, a furniture factory, and Mayleen Paper, Incorporated, a paper manufacturing firm. Medical records were obtained and production processes were observed. Also interviews were conducted on the workers who serve as sources of information. Heat, noise, ergonomic stress, accidents, dusts and fumes were the occupational hazards identified in both companies. Safety equipments and health services were provided to the workers. Respiratory disease has the highest identified disease among furniture manufacturers in the Sanding and Varnishing Department as well as in the Stock Preparation Department of the paper manufacturing company.
