Abstract/Summary
This study investigates the technical feasibility of producing zinc chloride from zinc dross, industrial waste. The whole experiment consisted of two parts namely: the reaction of zinc dross with hydrochloric acid, and the crystallization of the zinc chloride solution. In the reaction of zinc with the hydrochloric acid, different normalities of hydrochloric acid were used to determine the normality with the minimum formation of chlorides from impurities. The crystallization of zinc chloride was made possible through the use of thionyl chloride, a dehydrating agent.
