Abstract/Summary
The physico-chemical characteristics of the bottom sediments as well as the relative abundance of macrobenthic invertebrates of the Sacobia Lahar Lake was assessed. Sampling were done in the months of April, June and October of 1993 in four sampling stations. The physico-chemical factors of water such as temperature, pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen content and conductivity were determined. Some physico-chemical parameters of the soil such as pH, organic matter content and substrate composition were also determined. Measurement of the soil nutrients was made by the Bureau of Soils and Water Management in the Philippines.Findings show that only a few macrobenthic organisms inhabit the lahar lake which contains mostly ash, silt, and clay brought about by the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. The two macrobenthic invertebrate organism that imbody the population of the Sacobia Lahar Lake were Insects and Gastropods. Insects were abundant during the sampling month of April and June. Gastropods were abundant during the sampling month of October.
