Abstract/Summary
This thesis looks into the coming of age or Bildungsroman genre in order to chart the various ugly feelings (e.g. guilt, fear, anxiety) experienced by the female adolescent throughout her maturation. With the use of thinkers/philosophers such as Sianne Ngai, Sigmund Freud, Anna Freud, and Melanie Klein, this thesis explores how psycho analysis theory can be applied in understanding the adoslescent's fluctuation of emotion . This thesis also serves as a basis for the differences in the traditional Bildungsroman and the female Bildungsroman. The texts analyzed are VJ Campilan's All my lonely islands and Melissa De La Cruz's Something in between.
