Abstract/Summary
Interface designed intends to improve the connection or communication between the user and the computer. This is done in a fervent effort to achieve efficiency and aid in understanding any data that is presented by the computer to its user. This thesis seeks to improve the user interface designed of Linked Data for Flood Disaster. This is a disaster information system that gathers flood-related new articles from locally renowned publications such as Manila Bulletin, Philippine Star, and Philippine Daily Inquirer. It processes specific data such as typhoon name, affected area and its properties (wind speed, gustiness, and amount of rainfall) presents them in a pleasing and understandable visual representation. By using Twitter Bootstrap for the user friendly website design and JFreeChart for the data visualization, the new website is capable of presenting useful and detailed summary of disasters through charts and graphs. After developing the new website, Linked Data for Flood Disaster 1.5 is the new and improved website for the previous website of Linked Data for Flood Disaster. Charts and graphs were incorporated to further improve the data visualization. 30 people evaluated the website and gave good feedback in terms of how useful the website is and how the website is compared to the old version.
