Abstract/Summary
The photographic essay revolves around a Buddhist community in the Philippines, which follows the Mahanaya tradition of Buddhism. Mahanaya emphasizes universal salvation from suffering and a host of quasi-divinities called bodhisattvas.
The esssay is under the Descriptive and Explanatory category of photographs. It features the practices and traditions of Buddhism. This would include rites and rituals performed by Buddhist Monks during special days in the Buddhist Lunar calendar as well as weekly gatherings of prayers in the temple to honor and praise the Buddha. It also shows how Buddhist devotees practice their faith and features structures and symbolisms of Buddhism.
