Abstract/Summary

Serena Moran: Pag-asa ng Masa follows a has-been starlet campaign trail as she runs for mayor in an effort to secure herself a living and stay relevant in the public eye. The screenplay revolves around the theme of ambition and how far people are willing to go or how ruthless they can be in achieving their goals. It aims to challenge the audience judgment of character. Presented with characters each with their own flaws and strengths vying for an important post in the government, the audience are made to question their idea of a good leader. To reach this objective, Serena Moran: Pag-asa ng Masa is written as a satirical mockumentary. Using these styles which heavily utilize irony, sarcasm and parody does not only provide comedic relief but also encourage people to analyze and critique whatever it is they are laughing.
